February 14th is Valentine's day. It is celebrated in many countries around the world. Japan is one of them.
In Western countries, people send cards, flowers, chocolates and other gifts. Particularly men send presents to women. But In Japan women send gifts, especially chocolates, to men.
Not only a woman who has a boyfriend, but also single woman has a chance to confess her love to a man.
There are several types of chocolates acceding to the person."Honmei choco" is the chocolate that a woman give to the man she love."Giri choco" shows her thanks."Tomo chico" is sent to friends.
Perhaps men are little excited on Valentine's day to expect the confession if love.
Incidentally March 14 is called "White day" in Japan. The men who had gifts on Valentine's day give candies, marshmallows, and other gifts to the women in return.
This picture is the handmade cookies that my son sent to his classmates with a origami-bear.
